Valentine Heart Tortillas

Here is a quick and fun Valentine's Day food idea!  This heart tortilla would taste great with a hearty soup or a side of marinara dipping sauce.

If you want to use less pepperoni try this version.

Gently fold two tortillas in half and cut out half of a heart using the fold as the center of the heart.  Don't throw your scraps away...gobble them up.  Waste not, want not!

Unfold your hearts...and admire your work.

Lay one tortilla on the counter and sprinkle with grated cheese making sure to cover the edges.  Then, place turkey pepperoni (or regular) around the perimeter of the heart.  The pepperoni pieces should be half on and half off your tortilla.  As the cheese melts it will hold your pepperoni in place.

Once you have finished placing pepperoni around the perimeter lightly sprinkle garlic powder over your cheese for added pizazz.  Then, top your tortilla with the second heart.

Carefully place your heart on a non-stick skillet or pan.  Cook for ~2 minutes or until lightly browned.  Then, using a spatula carefully flip over.  If peperoni's falls out carefully reposition.  Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and adorn with additional pepperoni hearts.  Cook for ~2 more minutes and then transfer to a serving plate.

1. To avoid transferring difficulties you could create your entire work of art on the skillet or in the pan BEFORE you turn the heat on.
2. If you do not want to eat large quantities of pepperoni cut each heart with a zig zag pattern.  Then, give each person a half and see if they can find their match.
3. You could get super fancy and cut hearts out of the middle of your giant heart tortilla so that the cheese shows through.  You could also use a series of meats to incorporate pinks and reds.  Have fun!
