Asian Red Pepper and Beef Dish

*I am not Chinese, nor do I pretend to know much about cooking Asian dishes.  I wanted to make a Chinese inspired dish with ground beef and couldn't find a recipe so I decided to make one up.  To create this dish I combined all the Chinese ingredients from my fridge and cupboards :).  It turned out pretty good!

1 lb. ground beef
1 1/2 teaspoons minced garlic
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
1 (15 oz.) jar roasted red peppers, chopped then rinsed
3 tablespoons Chili Dipping Sauce (it has a sweet flavor)
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon hot chili sauce (add less if you cannot tolerate heat)
3/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup packed chopped lettuce
1 1/2 cups dry rice, cooked

In a large pot brown the ground beef and garlic.  Add the remaining ingredients with exception of the lettuce and rice.  Cook on medium heat until heated through; remove from stove.  Stir in the lettuce.  Serve over hot cooked rice.

Yields: 5 servings

This sounds delish! I am not a rice fan; in fact, Chinese is about the only time I eat it, so bravo.

I also love that you made this with ground beef!!!
