When we had children I decided that each Easter I would give them one item that was of a religious nature. This year I thought it would be fun to connect the Easter Bunnies mission to the true reason for this holiday. So, I created a poem that explained this service project/family activity.
I made one "Bunny Service Jar" for our family; and a printed copy of the poem and bag of cotton balls (bunny tails) for each child. I will be placing these items in their baskets on Easter. The jar will be placed on the floor in-between the baskets.
I like to serve those I love,
just like the Savior up above.
To thank the One who served us all,
reach out and serve, no matter how small.
For every kindness performed near or far,
put a bunny tail in your service jar.
When all your tails are gone from your sack,
make a bunny treat or have a bunny snack.
Your friend, The Easter Bunny
When each child has placed all of their bunny tails into the service jar we will make and eat this treat as a family.
Recipe for:
Bunny Pudding Cups
1 serving of vanilla pudding
2 long cookies
2 chocolate chips
1 teaspoon coconut, toasted
1 pink tiny marshmallow
pink sprinkles
Make the pudding as indicated on the box. Pour into individual serving cups; set aside. Using a plastic bag pipe icing onto each cookie creating the inside of a bunny ear. Sprinkle with pink sprinkles and shake off the excess. Insert the cookies into the pudding. Place all other items on top of the pudding so that it resemble a bunny. If you are feeling adventurous allow each participant to decorate their own.
Have fun!
